First Family Fun Day August 6
Sprinkler pads and ice cream treats were the perfect way to celebrate “Family Fun Day” for Baby Point clients last Saturday at the new Turning Point campus on 3 Viking Drive in Wareham. Children played a variety of games aided by Turning Point volunteers while parents looked on and relaxed in the shade. Participants also enjoyed kid-friendly food like mac and cheese and chicken nuggets donated by local businesses for the event. Face painting was a popular stop for children as well as adults who could sit in the shade and enjoy the nice breeze. Baby Point Coordinator Geri Graham was pleased with the turnout, “this is the first Family Fun Day we’ve put together” she smiled, “there will be more”.
“Summer can be a stressful time for families struggling to make ends meet”, commented Turning Point Executive Director Shirley Santos, “today was an opportunity for little ones and their parents to just relax, have fun and enjoy themselves”. Looking at the smiles and happy chatter, that’s just what happened.
Baby Point is a program of Turning Point, a social service agency that provides supportive services to individuals and families who are facing various life challenges and are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless as a result. In addition to housing assistance, Turning Point also offers assistance with heat and utility bills, access to emergency food and clothing, essential baby items, employment information, referrals to treatment centers and more. Turning Point collaborates with other local service agencies in order to work together as a community to assist those most needy within the south coast service area. Through the generosity of volunteers and donors Baby Point is able to make an impact on the lives of neighbors who are most in need.
